Travelling By Ipswich Busses

Getting here by bus — Sunday 13 September 2026

We’ve done the research for you, so everyone is able to arrive on the day.

Park at St Mark’s, then take the 13

St Mark’s, Hawthorn Drive, IP2 0QQ — parking on site.

The Route 13 runs from Chantry into the town centre via the Railway Station, with a stop at Hawthorn Drive (Sorrel Close), right by the church. Board towards Railway Station / Ipswich Central and alight at Tower Ramparts Bus Station, then walk approx. 5 minutes to the Corn Exchange.

On Sundays the 13 runs every 30 minutes. Journey time from Hawthorn Drive to the town centre is about 11 minutes.

Sunday departures from Hawthorn Drive (Sorrel Close) → arrival at Tower Ramparts:

09:09 → 09:20 · 09:39 → 09:50 · 10:09 → 10:20 · 10:39 → 10:50 · 11:09 → 11:20 …then at :09 and :39 past each hour through the day.

For the 11:00 Mass, catch the 10:09 (into town for 10:20) — or the 10:39 at the latest, which reaches the town centre at 10:50.

Getting back after Mass: the 13 leaves Tower Ramparts towards Chantry / Hawthorn Drive at :05 and :35 past each hour on Sundays (e.g. 12:35, 13:05, 13:35…), reaching Hawthorn Drive about 9 minutes later.

Park at St Mary Magdalen’s, then take the 9 or 10

St Mary Magdalen’s, Norwich Road, IP1 6JS — parking at the Hall opposite.

The Route 9 & 10 (Whitton Wanderer) run along Norwich Road between Whitton / Castle Hill and Ipswich Central, stopping close to the church. Board a 9 or 10 towards the Town Centre / Tower Ramparts and alight at Tower Ramparts Bus Station, then walk approx. 5 minutes to the Corn Exchange.

On Sundays the 9 and 10 together give a bus into the town centre roughly every 30 minutes through the day. Journey time from Norwich Road is about 10 minutes.

Sunday arrivals at Tower Ramparts (then a 5-minute walk to the Corn Exchange):

…09:00 · 09:30 · 10:00 · 10:30 · 11:00 · 11:30… and every 30 minutes through the afternoon (arrivals at :00 and :30 past each hour).

For the 11:00 Mass, aim for the bus arriving 10:00 or 10:30 — board on Norwich Road at around 09:50 or 10:20.

Getting back after Mass: buses leave Tower Ramparts towards Norwich Road / Whitton at about :27 and :57 past each hour on Sundays (e.g. 12:27, 12:57, 13:27…).

Park at St Mary’s (Woodbridge Road), then take the 6

St Mary’s, Woodbridge Road, IP4 4BD — parking on site.

The Route 6 (Rushmere Rider) runs along Woodbridge Road into the town centre. Board a 6 towards the Town Centre / Tower Ramparts and alight at Tower Ramparts Bus Station, then walk approx. 5 minutes to the Corn Exchange.

On Sundays the 6 runs hourly. Journey time from Woodbridge Road is about 7 minutes.

Sunday arrivals at Tower Ramparts:

…09:26 · 10:26 · 11:26 · 12:26… (hourly, at :26 past each hour).

For the 11:00 Mass, take the bus arriving 10:26 — board on Woodbridge Road at about 10:19. (The next bus doesn’t reach town until 11:26, too late for an 11:00 start, so don’t miss the 10:26.)

Getting back after Mass: the 6 leaves Tower Ramparts towards Woodbridge Road at :45 past each hour on Sundays (e.g. 12:45, 13:45…). Evening journeys run as the 5E.

Important

Because the Sunday 6 is only hourly, this is the tightest of the three park-and-ride options — the 10:26 arrival is really the only comfortable one for the 11:00 Mass.

Planning your journey for the 11:00 Mass

Aim to catch a bus that reaches Tower Ramparts by about 10:30 to allow time to walk to the Corn Exchange and be seated. For return journeys, buses run from Tower Ramparts back to Chantry and Norwich Road through the afternoon.

Support the Congress

Help make this possible

Your gift helps make the Ipswich Eucharistic Congress possible. Donations support the real costs of the week — venue hire, liturgy and music, speakers, materials, hospitality, and practical needs across every day of the Congress.

This is a shared work of four Ipswich parishes. Every contribution, whether large or small, helps to keep the Congress open and accessible to all.

Thank you for helping to centre this Congress on Jesus in the Eucharist.
