2. What Data We Collect and Why

2.1 Event Registration via ChurchSuite

When you register for an event, book a place at a Congress session, or sign up for updates, we collect information through ChurchSuite, our event management platform. Depending on the form, this may include:

  • Your name and email address
  • Your phone number (if provided)
  • Your parish or diocese
  • The sessions or events you have registered for
  • Any additional information you provide voluntarily (e.g. accessibility requirements)

Why we collect this: To manage event bookings, send you confirmation and event information, plan capacity at venues, and communicate important updates about the Congress.

Legal basis: Performance of a contract (processing your registration); and where we send you relevant event updates, our legitimate interest in keeping registered attendees informed. Where we ask for sensitive information (such as accessibility needs), we will seek your explicit consent.

ChurchSuite is operated by ChurchSuite Ltd. Your data is processed by ChurchSuite on our behalf under a data processing agreement. You can read ChurchSuite’s privacy policy at churchsuite.com/privacy.

2.2 Website Analytics via Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this website. Google Analytics places cookies on your device and collects information including:

  • Pages you visit and how long you spend on them
  • The website or search engine you came from
  • Your approximate location (country/region — not precise)
  • Your device type, browser, and operating system
  • Whether you are a new or returning visitor

This information is collected in aggregate and does not personally identify you. We do not use Google Analytics to track individuals. IP addresses are anonymised.

Why we collect this: To understand which content is useful, improve the website experience, and ensure we reach the people the Congress is for.

Legal basis: Your consent, given via the cookie banner when you first visit the site.

Google Analytics data is processed by Google LLC. Google may transfer data to the United States. For more information, see Google’s Privacy Policy.

2.3 Behaviour Analytics via Microsoft Clarity

We use Microsoft Clarity, a behaviour analytics tool that helps us understand how people interact with the website through heatmaps and session recordings. Clarity may record:

  • Mouse movements, clicks, and scrolling behaviour
  • Pages visited and time on page
  • Anonymised session replays

Clarity automatically masks any input fields that may contain personal information (such as form fields). We do not use Clarity recordings to identify individuals.

Why we collect this: To identify where visitors encounter difficulties on the site and improve usability — for example, ensuring the registration process is straightforward.

Legal basis: Your consent, given via the cookie banner when you first visit the site.

Clarity data is processed by Microsoft Corporation. For more information, see Microsoft’s Privacy Statement and the Clarity Privacy page.
